Pump Hill Farm Cottages, Pemberton (Best Farm Stay, Ever)

Last June, our family went on a road trip in Western Australia. We found ourselves in Pemberton, experiencing farm stays for the first time. It was memorable.

Pump Hill Farm Cottages

We chose to stay at Pump Hill Farm Cottages because of the tranquil countryside backdrop. Also, it had good reviews on TripAdvisor.

Traditionally built with rammed earth and mudbrick, each cottage is fully self-contained with cooker, refrigerator, microwave, cosy log fires, TV, DVD player, sofa, beds, and bathroom.

Right next to the Reception Office, there is also a laundry room with washers and dryers for guests, free of charge.

Coincidentally, our cottage was just behind the reception office where the WIFI hotspot was. Lucky us!

Meet the farm animals

For our kids, the highlight during our stay was the farm animals. They looked forward to the morning hayrides around the farm and feeding the animals.

Delighting the donkeys with carrots
Morning feed for the ducks
This chicken was very friendly and loved to be carried
Farm pigs…OINK!
This friendly fellow was right outside our cottage

If your children love animals, they would enjoy farm stays.

About Pemberton

Pemberton is a mill town located in the South West region of Western Australia where the towering Karri trees grow.

Surrounded by the Karri forests,  it is the best place to experience some of the tallest trees in the world.

If you get the chance, climb the famous Gloucester Tree.

Pemberton Tramway Company

The Pemberton tram ride is one not to be missed when in the region. The railway line takes you deep into the majestic Karri forest, past the Saw Mill, over trestle bridges spanning rivers and streams.

The tram was moving at a languid pace which seemed like forever for our kids. Snacks were allowed onboard, which kind of helped to kill the boredom. Remember to get your snacks before boarding!

The Cascades

Our kids were glad to welcome a little adventure when the tram stopped at the Cascades.

The total journey was about 1¾ hour. It was such a relaxing ride that our kids took a nap on the way back!
